tn-haokip BJP ministers shirk work to campaign for party: TN Haokip - Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee

Manipur PCC president today hit out at BJP led NDA government at the Centre for sending Union minister after minister to Manipur to play “politics” for electoral gains keeping in view of the forthcoming Manipur assembly elections.

“Union ministers came here to play drama, spread false propaganda against the present government in Manipur and make false promises. They are not coming in the interest of Manipur, but in BJP’s interest,” MPCC president TN Haokip today said.

The Congress president’s outburst came after Union ministers are making a beeline to visit Manipur ahead of the Assembly election, which is likely to be held before February.

Union ministers are visiting Manipur for official purposes as well as party organisational matters.

Even three Union ministers arrived in a single day in Manipur. Union human resource development minister Prakash Javadekar, Union women and child development minister Maneka Gandhi and Union health and family welfare minister Jagat Prakash Nadda were present on November 11 to attend development programmes as well as address BJP conferences.

Before that other Union ministers including sports minister Vijay Goel visited Manipur.

“The Union ministers were trying to fool the people of Manipur in addition to “harassing” the state government by not releasing funds on time. They are visiting Manipur to finish the state. People should be cautious of the BJP’s politics,”

Haokip said the BJP and its leaders do not have any principle. A party with leaders without any principle is dangerous for the people, he charged, adding that the Union ministers are coming along with RSS agenda to divide and rule the people in Manipur and reap political benefits out of it.

“During UPA government Union ministers coming to Manipur for development projects had never visited Congress Bhavan. Sonia Gandhi, the UPA chairman sometimes visited our office. She visited only when there was a party programme at the Congress office,” the Congress president said.

On the other hand, now Union ministers are shirking official work for the sake of party activities in Manipur. They made official programmes so that they can campaign for the BJP, he said.

Haokip further charged that the BJP is “hobnobbing” with the NSCN (IM), United Naga Council and All Naga Students Union Manipur for electoral gains at the cost of the entire state.
